For a brief while in IPL 2026 on Tuesday evening, the Orange Cap table had a strong whiff of 2025,. then it became more 2026 not long after. And there was drama on the Purple Cap table too.
Gujarat Titans (GT) opener B Sai Sudharsan, the IPL 2025 Orange Cap winner, has been rising through the table rapidly,. his 61 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) - his third half-century on the trot and fourth in five innings (make that six and you get a century too) - took him right to the top of the run-scorers' table by the time he was dismissed in the 17th over of the innings.
But SRH's Heinrich Klaasen started his innings in the chase just seven runs behind the 501 runs Sai Sudharsan had,. crossed it without much fuss, though it wasn't one of Klaasen's better days. True of SRH's batting too. Klaasen scored 14 and SRH 86. But Klaasen continues to wear the Orange Cap with 508 runs.
Klaasen. Sai Sudharsan are the only batters to have gone past the 500-run mark this season, and behind them are SRH's Abhishek Sharma (481 runs), who scored just 6 against GT, KL Rahul of Delhi Capitals (DC, 477), and Sai Sudharsan's captain at GT, Shubman Gill, who got to 467 runs for the season after managing just 5 against SRH.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the Purple Cap winner in 2016. 2017, has been joined at the top of the table by Kagiso Rabada, Purple Cap winner from 2020.
Rabada has been devastating in the powerplays this season,. three of them in that phase against SRH: Abhishek, Ishan Kishan and R Smaran. He ended with 3 for 28. the Player-of-the-Match award, and had 21 wickets to his name, the same as Bhuvneshwar. Though the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) quick is going at an economy rate of 7.46 to Rabada's 9.15. still has the Purple Cap. In fact. when he goes up against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) tonight, Bhuvneshwar has the opportunity to stretch his lead at the top.
Behind them are Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings (CSK, 19 wickets), Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). GT's Rashid Khan and SRH's Eshan Malinga, all with 16 wickets. Rashid got one wicket against SRH, while Malinga went wicketless.
Two other GT bowlers also made big strides: Prasidh Krishna, after sitting out for almost a month, picked up two wickets on his return to get to 14 for the season,. just one wicket behind him is Jason Holder, who, remarkably, has 13 wickets in just six games this season. They are at No. 9 and No. 10 respectively.
