Michael Carrick has won 10 of his 15 games in charge

Manchester Unitedcaretaker head coach Michael Carrick has been named on a six-man shortlist for the Premier League's Manager of the Season award.

Carrick. who has overseen just 15 games in charge since replacing Ruben Amorim in January, is joined byArsenal's Mikel Arteta andManchester City's Pep Guardiola, who are vying to win this season's league title.

DepartingBournemouthhead coach Andoni Iraola,Brentford's Keith Andrews andSunderland's Regis le Bris have also been nominated.

Among the eight players in the running for Premier League Player of the Season areArsenaltrio David Raya, Gabriel. Declan Rice, andManchester Citypair Antoine Semenyo and Erling Haaland.

Also shortlisted areManchester Unitedcaptain Bruno Fernandes,Brentfordstriker Igor Thiago andNottingham Forestmidfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

In the Premier League Young Player of the Season category - for players aged 23 or younger at the start of the campaign -West Hammidfielder Mateus Fernandes,Newcastlefull-back Lewis Hall,Brentfordright-back Michael Kayode andManchester Unitedmidfielder Kobbie Mainoo are among the nominees.

Bournemouthteam-mates Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott, plus City duo Rayan Cherki and Nico O'Reilly, have also made the eight-man shortlist.

The winners will be decided by a combination of a public vote and panel of football experts.

Man Utd chiefs to recommend Carrick for permanent job

Manchester Unitedchiefs are expected to recommend that Carrick be appointed as permanent manager following his impressive spell as caretaker. during which he has won 66.7% of his games in charge.

The former United midfielder. 44, has secured a return to the Champions League after guiding United from seventh to third in the table, with no Premier League club winning more points (33) since Carrick's appointment on 13 January.

Arteta is two victories from deliveringArsenal's first Premier League title since 2004 -. he could yet be denied by fellow Spaniard Guardiola, who could win Manager of the Season for a sixth time.

Iraola has takenBournemouthto the brink of qualifying for Europe for the first time in their history. while Andrews can also achieve that feat withBrentfordin his first season as a manager.

Meanwhile. under Le Bris,Sunderlandhave spent much of their first season back in the English top flight inside the top half of the table, clear of relegation trouble.
