Electricity consumers across Pakistan may face an increase of Rs1.72 per unit under the fuel price adjustment mechanism for April.
According to officials. the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed a petition with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra), requesting the raise. Nepra is scheduled to hear the petition on June 2.
If approved, the increase will be applicable to consumers of all distribution companies, including K-Electric. The proposed hike is expected to add further financial burden on consumers already grappling with high energy costs.
