Pakistan have been fined 5% of their match fee for a slow over rate during their 2026 Women's T20 World Cup match against India at Edgbaston. Match referee Trudy Anderson imposed the penalty after Pakistan were found one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.
There was no need for a formal hearing because Pakistan captain Fatima Sana pleaded guilty to the offence. accepted the sanction. On-field umpires Claire Polosak. Jacquline Williams, third umpire Eloise Sheridan, and fourth umpire Sue Redfern levelled the charge, which fell under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. It relates to minimum over-rate offences. as per which players are fined 5% of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in allotted time.
Pakistan lost to India by 64 runs in their opening game of the tournament at Edgbaston. The margin of defeat left them fifth among six teams in Group A, with a net run rate of -3.200.
Their next game is against South Africa, who are currently last in Group A, also at Edgbaston on June 17.
