TAXILA: A group of 518 Sikh pilgrims from India departed from Gurdwara Panja Sahib on Sunday for Kartarpur after completing their religious rites. participating in commemorative ceremonies marking the death anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru.
The pilgrims offered prayers, performed religious rituals and attended special gatherings in remembrance of Guru Arjan Dev Ji.
The pilgrims were seen off by Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) officials and representatives of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak committee.
Officials from the district administration, police. other relevant departments remained present to oversee transportation and security arrangements, ensuring a smooth and secure departure.
Deputy Secretary Shrines Faraz Abbas while talking to newsmen said. the arrival of such a large number of pilgrims for the occasion was the first of its kind in 14 years. He added that the successful completion of the pilgrimage reflected Pakistan’s continued efforts to facilitate religious tourism. provide secure access to holy sites for Sikh devotees from around the world.
Speaking to media representatives, several pilgrims said the warmth, respect. care they received in Pakistan had left a lasting impression.
They noted that the opportunity to freely perform their religious obligations at sacred Sikh sites would remain a cherished memory.
The pilgrims also commended the arrangements for accommodation, transportation, security and langar services.
