Shehzad Roy. founder of Zindagi Trust, an organization working to reform government schools in Pakistan, is gaining traction online for a skit highlighting child marriage through humorous conversations with young girls.

The singer shared the video on Instagram with the caption. “What these young girls say will change how you see child marriage forever”.

In the clip. Roy is seen asking the young girls serious questions about child marriages in villages in Pakistan, to which they had some insightful responses.

Roy speaks to a group of schoolgirls, asking about expectations and assumptions surrounding child marriage in rural areas of Pakistan. He begins by saying, “These days, children are getting married in villages. There has been a discussion on underage marriage, so I thought I would ask you guys”.

He adds, “They say if you don’t get your child married early, they’ll get out of your hands. you will lose control”.

One of the girls responds humorously, “Sir, are we some Pokémon that we’ll get out of your hands’.

Another comments on the pressure of early marriage. joking, “Sir, one thing is for sure—my bad sleep already makes me miss my van.”

A different girl adds, “Don’t even talk about age. Yours is going up; don’t worry about us.”

The video also includes edited pauses showing Roy’s reactions to the girls’ responses. in which the singer discusses the common belief that marrying children early helps them “learn everything in time.”

In response, one girl jokes, “Sir, my geometry is so weak. Does that mean if I get married early, my geometry will improve. I’ll be able to calculate the radius of my roti?”

When Roy asks if there could be any benefit. another girl replies, “Can I get a phone SIM or a driver’s license?” When told no, she responds, “If I can’t get a SIM in my name at this age, how will I have a child? If I can’t drive a car, how will I take care of my home?”

Another girl adds, “She is right. At this age, we can’t even sign a simple contract,. you expect us to sign something as important as a marriage contract?”

The conversation also touches on assumptions some parents hold about securing their children’s future through early marriage. One girl jokes, “So are we living in the trenches right now?”

The video further briefly references concerns about health risks associated with family blood marriages.

Overall, the video received a positive response online, with many praising the way the issue was addressed in an engaging. relatable manner.
