Injuries rule De Kock and Bawa out of remainder of MI's IPL 2026

Mumbai Indians MI wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock. allrounder Raj Angad Bawa have been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 because of injuries.

While de Kock sustained a tendon injury in his left wrist before MI's game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 29. Bawa suffered a ligament tear in his right thumb while playing against Punjab Kings (PBKS) last week.

"Both Quinton. Raj Bawa will continue their rehab in their respective homes, with support and guidance from the Mumbai Indians medical team to help them return to play as soon as possible," MI said in a statement on Tuesday. "Mumbai Indians wishes them a quick recovery, and will announce replacements as per IPL guidelines."

Both de Kock and Bawa played only three games each for MI this IPL season. De Kock's last match was against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 23. while Bawa last played PBKS on May 14. De Kock scored 112* in his first outing but scored only 13. 7 in his next two innings with MI sticking with Ryan Rickelton as the primary overseas opener for the most part; Bawa scored 16 the only time he batted and took two wickets at an average of 25 across his three games.

Five-time champions MI became one of the first teams to be eliminated from the playoffs race this season. They are currently No. 9 on the points table, with eight points from 12 games. They next face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Wednesday.
