How many more kids!

How many more kids!

Kulsoom's name has now been added to the long list of children whose lives have been cut short by beasts. predators that walk among us. Kulsoom was just three. She stepped out to play and did not come back. What was done to her before she was killed,. the manner in which her body was left at her own doorstep, should shock the nation to its core. Even the police surgeon who examined her body described the case as one of the most horrific she had ever witnessed.

What words can possibly be offered in the face of such barbarity? We must ask ourselves what kind of society we have become. We speak of honour and of family and of protecting the innocent. And yet a three-year-old child cannot walk out of her front door without becoming prey. What it tells us is. we have built a society ordered around the appearance of decency while something monstrous has been allowed to fester beneath it. Hardly a week passes without an incident of abuse. According to Sahil's latest Cruel Numbers report. as many as 3,630 cases of child abuse were reported across Pakistan during 2025. These figures suggest that more than nine children were abused every single day. The Zainab Alert Act, passed after the last time public outrage, demanded a legislative response. More than five years later. its key provisions, including the agency designed to issue rapid alerts for missing children, remain unimplemented.

Unfortunately, Kulsoom will not be the last. And it is a sentence that should shame every person in a position of authority in this country. The question of how many more children must be added to this list before the state responds with something other than a committee is one. only the government can answer.
